PA CV

In today’s ever competitive PA job market, it is increasingly important to demonstrate on your CV your key achievements and any awards you have received in respect of your role.

It is important to not lose sight of the fact that ultimately, your CV is your sales tool that leads you to the opportunity to go face to face in an interview scenario. Simply regurgitating your job's specification will not do this effectively for you, as it will not highlight the multitude of commercial and business acumen skills which you have acquired and can "bring to the table" for prospective employers.

The UK’s respected No 1 selling CV book, “Brilliant CV – What Employers Want to See and How to Write it” (Bright and Earl) highlights this point. Their research revealed that 70% of candidates who added achievements onto their CV were selected, compared to 30% of candidates who just listed their job duties.

The need to grab the reader’s attention and stand out means it is vital you take that extra step to bring your CV to life.

From over 30 years of recruitment experience, we would recommend that you detail:

  • What you have achieved for your current and any previous employers - demonstrate periods of sustained success and a steady rise up the organisational ladder

  • The difference that your achievements have made within the businesses you have worked for, whether that be new processes, cost saving, improved work processes etc. Concentrate on hard facts.                              For example, 'I was heavily involved in the supplier rationalisation program which resulted in a reduction on our suppliers from 30000 to 3000 giving annual cost savings of £780000.'
  • Any awards that you have received - for your achievements within the role or from external recognition. Prospective employers love to see this on a CV.                                                                                                    For example, 'I was nominated Employee of the Year 2015 for my work on the Supplier rationalisation program.'

Taking these factors on board, consider whether your CV could do with a revamp and let us know if we can help. We offer CV advice and are experienced in bringing your work history to life in a way that showcases your ability.
